Engine. Sorry if i missed this but what size resistor are you using? I have read that the bypass was a 1 M ohm resistor. Also another check would be to measure the resistor resistance out of the harness and then measure the resistance in the harness. If my memory memory serves me correctly it is a two pin connector. Have you checked each connector pin to ground and then each connector wire to the ECU for continuity. I also agree with aliaZ that you should eliminate the sub harness by placing the resistor in the main harness and see if that clears you code.
